On "Broke My Wings..."

Out of all the pieces in my gallery, this one -- "Broke My Wings and Said 'Fly'" is the most popular. Even though I don't submit to this account any longer, I still log in from time to time and am always greeted with several favorite notices for that piece.

Although I know it is because of the feeling put into it and the fact that people can relate... I just find it interesting that that one is the most popular. I had never been more miserable in my life and yet I produced the most popular (not best) piece of art in my gallery during that time. Huh. Imagine that.

I am working on a newer version of it, actually. It's not about trying to be popular or better, but evolution. I have learned so much in the six years since I originally created "Broke My Wings," I feel it is only fitting to update it a bit. Although I felt like I was going through Hell then, I have come to know real pain, and know it well. I have been through far worse -- and yet, I am still here.

I guess my wings were never really broken after all.

I think that one of the things that makes your artwork and writing so unique, and so impressive, is that you never make it "perfect." You always have the little hint of a fault somewhere. Sometimes it's not even that little. And it's beautiful.
